About the Maker, Janet Price Haughey
I launched Double H Quilts after quilting for a few decades and sewing since childhood. I began, as many quilters do, sewing clothes for myself, and later, for my family. I took courses in drapery making and upholstery. Later, I completed a beginner quilting class that taught me the basics of quiltmaking.
I went on to work in various quilt shops, where I was surrounded by beautiful fabrics. I learned a lot from coworkers about design, pattern and color selection, and techniques. I enjoyed helping customers select fabrics for their projects.
In 2016, I decided it was finally time to launch an online quilting business, based out of our home in Houston, Texas. My husband and I live in the vibrant Houston Heights neighborhood - the inspiration for the Double H Quilts moniker. Like many transplants to the great state of Texas, I am proud of our adopted home! I particularly enjoy producing quilts that show off that Texas pride!
I am pictured here with Gerard, my husband of 33 years, and our son Ryan, with wife Melinda, and son Sean, with wife Rebecca (and granddog Maisie). Our family clearly shares a love of plaid!
Quilts for Life
Throw your quilt on the back of your couch. Toss it on the grass at a music festival or enjoy a picnic in the park. Add an extra layer of warmth on your bed or snuggle up with your favorite 4-legged friend in front of the TV.
